Wildlife
Coffs Coast has a wide variety of wildlife - from dolphins and seals to kangaroo's and koalas. You can go walking in National Parks and State forests or get out and about on the Coffs Coast and see what you can find.
Whales and Dolphins
Whale watching season is from June to the end of November - Dolphins between September and April.
Observe from headlands and highpoints - Muttonbird Island, Boambee Head, Hungry Head and Nambucca Lookout. Whale or dolphin watching cruises are available.
Bats
Grey-headed and little-red flying foxes are common throughout the year. Visit Bellingen National Park between October and November to see bats giving birth. Contact Dorrigo National Park Office (02) 6657 2309.
Birds
Within the state forests, national parks and bushland there are over 250 species to be found. For example eastern whip birds, black-necked stork, osprey, little terns, forest kingfisher, red-kneed dotteral and more. Visit areas such as - Muttonbird Island, Coffs Harbour Botanic Gardens, Dorrigo National Park, Red Rock, Bongil Bongil National Park, and Bindarri National Park. Bird Observer groups meet regularly around Coffs Coast.

Koalas
Visit Bruxner Park, Coffs Harbour Botanic Gardens
Pine Creek State Forest, south of Coffs Harbour, has a Koala habitat with approximately 400 koalas. Evening walk tours are available.
Kangaroos & Wallabies
Dorrigo National Park, Bellingen River National Park and the Pet Porpoise Pool.
Water Dragons
In parklands around Coffs Coast. Visitors to the area have reported that early morning breakfasts at some of our seaside accommodations are extra special due to the visit of water dragons.
